APB is currently recruiting for the following positions:
LOADS AND DYNAMICS ENGINEERING MANAGER
Manage and mentor a team performing aeroelastic loads analysis supported by CFD, wind tunnel pressure model and flight testing. Prepare aerodynamic data bases for use in external loads and dynamics. Manage the analysis of external airplane static loads for flight/ground/landing impact. Manage the analysis of external dynamic loads considering the random nature of atmospheric turbulence and the effect of automatic flight control systems in determining structural responses and load distributions. Also evaluate the airplane dynamic loads due to landing and taxi maneuvers. Manage the solution of flutter and vibration problems utilizing analysis and testing in order to provide input to improve preliminary airplane design, and to verify that margins of safety with respect to flutter are adequate.
The successful candidate must:
- Have a complete understanding and wide application of engineering principles and concepts for aircraft aeroelastic loads analysis.
- Be capable of complete design documentation and assistance in certification efforts, as required. Working knowledge of other disciplines in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
- Have the ability to apply extensive loads and dynamics expertise in problem-solving. Candidate must be familiar with aircraft and FAR 25 certification requirements; be able to manage a group of engineers and suppliers to complete a project on schedule and on budget. Must be able to scope project size and develop and outline a technical approach, a budget, and a schedule for problems.
Required:
- BS or MS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years experience in aircraft aeroelastic analysis.
LOADS AND DYNAMICS ENGINEER
- Performing aeroelastic loads analysis supported by CFD, wind tunnel pressure model, and flight testing.
- Prepare aerodynamic databases for use in external loads and dynamics.
- Calculate external airplane static loads for flight/ground/landing impact.
- Calculate external dynamic loads considering the random nature of atmospheric turbulence and the effect of automatic flight control systems in determining structural responses and load distributions.
- Evaluate the airplane dynamic loads due to landing and taxi maneuvers.
- Solve flutter and vibration problems utilizing analysis and testing in order to provide input to improve preliminary airplane design and to verify that margins of safety with respect to flutter are adequate.
General Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Classical hand calculations for static and dynamic analysis.
- Ability to use Excel spreadsheets and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with FEA and FEM analysis tools such as PATRAN, NASTRAN.
- Ability to produce formal reports.
- Demonstrated multi-tasking ability.
- Proven ability to provide initiative in decision making.
- Good written communication skills.
- Loads flight test and wind tunnel test data reduction experience is a plus.
- Experience with MSC Nastran/Patran/FlightLoads is a plus.
- BS or MS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 5 plus years experience in aircraft aeroelastic analysis.
PROGRAM MANAGER
This position will provide overall program leadership and guidance for a major business/program element where business needs dictate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the technical, cost, and schedule performance of the program.
- Major responsibilities include strategic planning, customer rapport, selection of sub-contractors and positioning the company for subsequent phases.
- Provides comprehensive multi-discipline leadership of the technical and programmatic requirements, relevant principles, and practices necessary to carry out the project and customer requirements.
- Develops, approves and implements methods to achieve cost and schedule tracking reductions.
- Acts as the project focal point for coordination between company and customer management.
Education and Experience Requirements
- BS in Engineering
- Minimum seven years experience with 2 years in program/project management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Access, Word, Adobe, Excel, and Microsoft Project software.
QUALITY ENGINEER
The Quality Engineer will have experience in ISO9001/AS9100 Quality Management Systems requirements, FAA parts manufacturing approval, auditing, composite manufacturing, machining and special processes, tooling, inspection, corrective and preventative action and control of non-conforming products (including preliminary and material review processes) This position involves travel to domestic and foreign suppliers and FAA MIDO certification as a Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish & maintain DMIR status performing all the essential duties of Quality Control for APB.
- Perform all essential duties of Supplier Quality Assurance and Control including training and support of suppliers so that they maintain their FAA approvals necessary to perform work on behalf of the company.
- Analyze contractual, product definition and specification requirements to ensure the suppliers and internal processes are meeting Quality standards and requirements.
- Compile and analyze performance reports and process control statistics to determine and improve process capability and product quality.
- Perform quarterly and annual audits for suppliers in accordance with our QMS and established industry practice. Perform internal audits assuring compliance with the QMS.
- Maintain Quality Records in accordance with the QMS.
- Represent the company at the FAA and with Suppliers and Customers on matters relating to Quality.
- Perform assignments independently, meeting objectives without direct supervision.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to travel (including internationally) for up to 25% of the time, mainly for the purpose of performing audits and supplier surveillance.
Education and/or Experience Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience with AS9100 and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of Quality Control practices, techniques including measurement techniques, statistical control and receiving inspections methods.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent writing skills especially for procedures, audit reports, corrective action reports and other formal documents.
- Formal and informal problem solving skills and techniques. Must to able to go beyond the written word to find solutions that meet both the intent and requirements of established practices and QMS
